Adil Amin was born in Blackburn, England. After completing a Foundation Degree in Fine Art at Blackburn College and studying at Birmingham City University, Adil has worked in several varying fields while developing his painting practice. Working in oils, pastels, and acrylics his art stands as an autobiography of his experiences as a South Asian male growing up in the Northwest of England.

With every painting I hope tMy work explores portraiture by contemplating what it means to exist in the world today. The process involves learning and understanding my own visual language which I then express through paint. I always try to bring a sense of spontaneity to each piece by taking risks and leaving room to break conventional rules. All forms of trial-and-error, through mark making, colour, brushwork, and composition begin and end on the canvas with no preliminary work; allowing me to capture raw emotion. I see painting as an avenue to not only tell my story, but as a commentary on all human condition. Anxiety, grief, and loneliness are displays of our fragility as humans yet there is strength within that vulnerability.
o capture this parallel between positivity and negativity as this is what it truly means to be human.
