Qasim Bugti is a contemporary visual artist, curator, and art educator from Balochistan, Pakistan. Born in 1984, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Miniature Painting from the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, which he completed in 2009. His practice is deeply rooted in traditional miniature techniques, yet it explores contemporary themes of endurance, transformation, and the delicate relationship between nature and human resilience.

Over the years, Qasim has established himself as a significant presence in the Pakistani art landscape. Since founding his own studio in 2017, he has showcased his work in nine solo exhibitions and participated in more than fifty group shows both nationally and internationally. His recent work was featured in TRIPTYCH, a major collaborative exhibition organized by the Lahore Biennale Foundation and La Galerie at Alliance Française, Lahore — a testament to his evolving and relevant artistic voice.

Qasim’s artistic vision is shaped by the natural world — trees, mountains, earth, and their worn textures — which he interprets as symbols of strength, vulnerability, and interconnectedness. Through precise detail and disciplined technique, he translates these elements into powerful visual metaphors. His work resonates with a quiet intensity, inviting viewers to reflect on persistence, survival, and growth in both nature and the human spirit.

His contributions have earned him multiple accolades, including the Haji Shareef Prize in 2011 and the National Youth Award in 2021 — honours that recognize both his technical excellence and his impact on the cultural landscape. As a curator, Qasim is actively involved in developing thoughtful, meaningful exhibitions that connect audiences with ideas and narratives rooted in identity, ecology, and human experience. He also continues to mentor and guide young artists, sharing his knowledge and passion for creative exploration.
