Yant Jin Biography
Yant is a digital media artist based in London. Working with the flexibility of digital tools, she develops moving image and digital compositions that explore memory, identity, and psychological states. She received her MArch from the Cinematic and Videogame Architecture programme at the Bartlett School of Architecture, where she also studied the use of architectural language and metaphor in spatial design.
“Yant’s practice is grounded in digital media and composed of “”magical”” visual narratives that investigate the construction and fluidity of internal experience. In digital space, matter and form can be bent and recombined at will. The artist utilizes this quality to simulate abstract states, ranging from the latent emotional tensions of memory to the dynamic evolution of identity within social constructs.
The core of Yant’s practice lies in a process of reconstruction. The specific properties of the digital medium are utilized to subvert the physical fixity and irreversibility of reality. In doing so, the artist translates invisible psychological survival strategies and fluid self-perception into visible entities. Ultimately, the logic of perception is dismantled and reconfigured into a new, immediate visual experience.”
